I drove to that gate wanting blood, or at least a story that felt like justice. Instead I watched a seventy‑one‑year‑old man with a bad hip climb into my husband’s truck and bargain for the next sixty years of my daughter’s life. He didn’t raise his voice. He laid out the cost of vengeance in the only currency that mattered: the empty chair at a future wedding, the girl whose name would always be followed by her father’s crime.

Those bikers never touched the man who hurt Jenna. They stood between a broken father and a choice he couldn’t unmake, and then they came to our house, night after night, to sit on the steps until my girl could step into the porch light again. Six months will never be enough. But my daughter still has a father, and that’s the justice we live with.
